Although I joined the dosimetry profession 4 years ago, my earliest impression of healthcare occurred to me in my childhood as I grew up in a rural village in Kenya. I had a deep interest in becoming a doctor so that I could save lives. However, such an opportunity was hard to get. I settled for Mathematics and Computer Science in college. After graduation, I worked for numerous companies in different capacities in the information technology corporate world. But during all this time I could feel that I wanted to do something with my life where I could help people in need. Then one bright day I came across someone who introduced me to dosimetry. And that was to mark a complete cycle back to my childhood dream! With no regrets about the scenic route that led me here, I applied and was admitted to the Dosimetry Program at the University of Health Science Center, San Antonio Texas, graduating in 2010.
I am currently employed with the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC) of the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio Texas. I truly enjoy the medical dosimetry profession and the ever unique challenges it offers. My next goal is to advance in dosimetry and affiliated technologies - focusing more on education.
